Hello world!

I am a rookie blogger using WordPress for the first time. the intent of this blog is to share some of my experiences with home baking hearth breads. For most people baking bread seems intimidating and in these days of COVID19 lots of people have decided to try their hand at baking, subsequently they have emptied the store shelves of flour and even emptied out the suppliers I use for bulk flour purchases 50 lbs at a time which has really surprised me. the number of people looking for help has exploded.

Baking hearth breads is really simple it just takes some time, but the timing is generally very flexible. At its most basic bread baking is flour, water, yeast, and salt unless you are baking Tuscan breads. The labor content for a couple of loaves of bread is on the order of 25 minutes or so.

The Fundamentals

  1. A decent oven that can get hot
  2. Good quality flour
  3. Filtered water
  4. Non iodized salt
  5. Instant yeast or starter
  6. Some large covered bowls or containers
  7. A large plastic or wooden board
  8. Some linen dish towels
  9. Razer blades
  10. Ceramic floor tiles

While I am writing this I have dough that is autolysing in the oven right now. I need to get back to it for a few minutes so I will end this post for the moment
